Please come look at some new paintings of old stones by Martha Daghlian. Stones and Mirrors is a series of oil paintings depicting imaginary gravestones inspired by early American folk art designs and Romantic poetry. Martha has also made a set of plush hand mirrors that viewers may use to read the reversed text on each painting. If you like thinking about history, death, and time travel, come talk to Martha about it at the opening reception on Thursday, August 24 at 6:00pm at Mother Foucault’s Bookshop.
