Dennis Bernstein and Mimi German

Dennis J. Bernstein and Mimi German are joining poetic and political forces to bring their latest books to the public. Dennis will be reading from his book, Notebook 19. Mimi will be sharing poems from her book, Beneath the Gravel Weight of Stars and from her upcoming book, Where Grasses Bend.

Dennis J. Bernstein is a poet, human rights reporter, host of Flashpoints on Pacifica Radio, author of Notebook 19, Five Oceans in a Teaspoon, Special Ed: Voices from a Hidden Classroom.

Mimi German is Oregon’s first Beat Poet Laureate (2023-2025), awarded by the National and International Beat Poetry Foundation. She is the author of Beneath the Gravel Weight of Stars and will be coming out with her second book of poetry, Where Grasses Bend, in September 2023. German is a staunch advocate for unhoused communities. Her work on the streets reloads on the pages of her poetry. Her third book of poetry is coming out sometime in 2023 and is a compilation written with unhoused and housed poets in the US and in the UK.

Masks are encouraged but not mandatory.

They will be covering poems about folks living on the streets to the Covid pandemic.

There will be a Q&A following the readings.
